“Discipline is the ladder; Transcendence is the destination.” We begin as Shenxiu, “polishing the mirror” through daily discipline and constant audit. We end as Huineng, realizing that once the frequency is high enough, the “dust” can no longer find a place to land. Polish until the mirror itself is no longer necessary.
